Buyer’s Guide to Choosing Protective Aprons
Protective aprons help shield clothing and the wearer from splashes, dirt and workplace contamination during food handling, cleaning, processing, welding and other industrial tasks. Insinc’s range includes disposable polyethylene aprons, reusable PVC aprons, sleeveless smocks, hooded ponchos, leather welding aprons and AlphaTec 4000 protective aprons.
Disposable options are available in blue, white and green, with back-tie, sleeveless and tear-off formats. Thicknesses include light-duty 20-micron aprons, standard 30-micron options and heavier 40-micron aprons.
Disposable or Reusable Aprons?
Disposable polyethylene aprons suit short-duration tasks where frequent garment changes may be required. Tear-off styles support quick dispensing, while back-tie and sleeveless designs provide different levels of coverage and fit. Bulk cartons contain between 250 and 1,000 aprons, depending on the selected product.
Reusable PVC aprons measure 900mm x 1200mm and are available in black, blue, green and white. Replacement neck and waist hooks are also available. Clean reusable aprons according to the manufacturer’s instructions and replace them if damaged.
Which Apron Is Suitable for the Task?
Choose the apron according to the workplace hazard, required coverage and expected exposure. Light-duty PE aprons may suit basic food preparation or cleaning, while 30- and 40-micron options provide a heavier disposable format.
The leather welder’s apron is designed for welding-related use, while AlphaTec 4000 aprons are available in sizes M to 2XL for specialised protective applications. Always complete a workplace risk assessment and confirm that the apron’s material and coverage are suitable for the chemicals, heat or hazards involved.
