Buyer’s Guide to Choosing Hearing Protection

Hearing protection helps reduce exposure to hazardous workplace noise in construction, manufacturing, maintenance, transport and other loud environments. Insinc’s range includes disposable and reusable earplugs, banded hearing protectors, standard and folding earmuffs, hard-hat-mounted earmuffs and electronic hearing protection.

Options include Class 4 and Class 5 products, with selected earmuffs and earplugs carrying listed noise ratings such as 26dB or 28dB.

Earplugs or Earmuffs?

Disposable foam earplugs suit workplaces requiring frequent replacement or individual distribution. Corded versions are easier to keep together, while uncorded plugs may be preferred for simple single-use applications. Reusable earplugs provide another option for workers who can clean and store them correctly.

Earmuffs are quicker to put on and remove and may suit intermittent noise exposure. Collapsible and folding models support compact storage, while helmet-mounted earmuffs should be checked for compatibility with the exact hard-hat system.

Which Hearing Protector Do You Need?

Choose hearing protection according to the measured workplace noise level, required protection class, fit and communication needs. Metal-detectable earplugs may suit food production and other controlled environments, while dispenser systems provide convenient access for larger teams.

The range also includes children’s Class 5 earmuffs, electronic hearing protectors, replacement hygiene kits and earplug refills. Avoid selecting protection solely by the highest rating, as excessive attenuation can make communication and warning signals harder to hear.
