Buyer’s Guide to Choosing Carton Liners

Carton liners help protect boxes, crates and their contents from moisture, contamination and leakage during storage, handling and transport. They are commonly used in food processing, manufacturing, warehousing and produce handling.

Choose from clear or blue polyethylene liners, gusseted bags, crate liners made with ocean-bound plastic, and compostable BioBag liners for compatible ventilated crates.

Which Carton Liner Size Should You Choose?

Select a liner based on the internal dimensions of your carton or crate. Gusseted liners expand at the sides, making them easier to fit around bulky or irregular contents.

Liner thickness also matters. Lighter liners suit general protection, while thicker micron options are better for heavier products, sharper contents or applications requiring greater puncture resistance.

Plastic or Compostable Carton Liners?

Plastic carton liners provide reliable moisture and product protection across a wide range of commercial applications. Compostable liners may be suitable where organic waste and the liner are collected together through an approved composting system.

Degradable carton liners have been phased out in New Zealand, so businesses should choose standard plastic, recycled-content or certified compostable alternatives instead.
